LONDON – British drugmaker AstraZeneca has claimed to have discovered a cure for coronavirus with a blood cancer drug, which will soon be tested on coronavirus patients.

According to a report, the pharmaceutical company has revealed its plan and said that the medicine used to treat leukemia will now be tested on coronavirus patients.

The report says that the blood cancer drug ‘Calquence’ will probably be tested on 400 coronavirus patients soon.

The drugmaker claims that there is definitive evidence that the drug will improve the condition of intensive care patients, and that Calquence will likely treat patients.

AstraZeneca says the drug stops the virus from growing in the patient’s lungs. According to research, coronavirus affects the lungs of most patients.

Calquence was tested on coronavirus patients at a hospital in Washington, D.C., with a positive result. The drug will be tested on other patients.
