Facebook launched a dedicated gaming app on Monday, allowing users to create and watch live streams of games in a challenge to the Amazon-owned platform.
The new app was available Monday for Android users, with a separate version for Apple’s iOS.
Facebook officials said – the new app will allow users to watch e-sports or game competitions as well as participate in games with other online users.
They added – it accelerated the launch to encourage meaningful community interactions for people lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, it sees a strong interest in the new Facebook app, with some 700 million of its worldwide users who have already playing games or participating in online gaming groups.
The Facebook new app is a focused, gaming-only experience where you can watch your favorite streamers, play instant games and take part in gaming groups, the Facebook official said in a statement on Twitter.
